Internet Addiction, etc.

It seems appropriate for a blog to post this link, entitled, “Why moms are at risk for Internet addiction.”

Moms aren’t the only ones at risk. How easy it is to become a slave by thinking, I need to relax or, Just a couple more minutes/toys/dollars/nights/highs/etc. I can personally testify to the veracity of Jesus’ teaching that no one can serve two masters. I constantly feel that pull towards enslavement to things less than Christ, and if I’m not careful to stay alert, I succumb.

If this sounds over dramatic, here’s an experiment: next time you think something like the two thoughts above, see how easy it is to tell yourself no. If you find that you consistently cannot, then unless that passion is for serving Christ, I beg you to repent.

And if you haven’t already, I hope you’ll soon discover the wonderful truth so many others have known: slavery to Christ is true freedom. Joy is being a slave to love, and God is love (1 John 4:8).

Lent is good exercise for telling one’s self “no”.
