Colossians 2:14-15

14 ἐξαλείψας τὸ καθ᾽ ἡμῶν χειρόγραφον τοῖς δόγμασιν ὃ ἦν ὑπεναντίον ἡμῖν, καὶ αὐτὸ ἦρκεν ἐκ τοῦ μέσου προσηλώσας αὐτὸ τῷ σταυρῷ• 15 ἀπεκδυσάμενος τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ τὰς ἐξουσίας ἐδειγμάτισεν ἐν παρρησίᾳ, θριαμβεύσας αὐτοὺς ἐν αὐτῷ.

14 canceling the trail of debt that was against us along with the laws that were opposed to us. He took even that debt off the table when he nailed it to the cross. 15 After he had disarmed the rulers and the authorities, he disgraced them publicly, triumphing over them in the cross.

    Nice, this is a tremendous verse and truth and the original Greek brings this out so powerfully! Also brings some support to Gustaf Aulen’s idea of Christus Victor. Aulen said that this was the classic idea of the atonement. “Its central theme is the idea of the Atonement as a Divine conflict and victory – Christus Victor – fights against and triumphs over evil powers of the world, the ‘tyrants’ under which mankind is in bondage and suffering, and in Him God reconciles the world to Himself.”
